KUALA LUMPUR, April 17, 2026 (Life News Agency) — The Federal Territories Department (Jabatan Wilayah Persekutuan — JWP) today issued a firm reminder that the Majlis Perwakilan Penduduk Wilayah Persekutuan (MPPWP) is an official government community representation platform and not a commercial or business entity.
In an official media statement, JWP stressed that MPPWP was established specifically to strengthen government service delivery to residents in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan. Its core roles are to coordinate public complaints, promote active community engagement, and implement resident welfare programmes.
“MPPWP is not an entity established to conduct commercial or business activities to generate income, let alone profit,” the statement said. “MPPWP members must not misuse the organisation’s identity, including the use of business cards printed with the MPPWP logo for business purposes, unauthorised fundraising, or any commercial activities for personal gain outside their official duties.”
The department added that all MPPWP operations are strictly governed by government financial and administrative rules, including Treasury Directives, Malaysian Treasury Circulars, and the Guidelines on the Establishment and Management of MPPWP. Strict legal action can be taken against any individual or member found abusing their position or the MPPWP name for personal benefit.
JWP urged the public to stay vigilant and not be easily deceived by anyone claiming to represent MPPWP for questionable purposes.
“Any doubts regarding the involvement of MPPWP members in non-official activities should be referred directly to the Jabatan Wilayah Persekutuan for verification,” the statement concluded.
