PUTRAJAYA, 24 September 2026 — The Registrar of Societies (JPPM) has confirmed it issued a notice under subsection 13(2) of the Societies Act 1966 [Act 832] to Parti Perikatan Nasional (Perikatan Nasional) and suspended all of the coalition’s activities with effect from 23 September 2026.
In a media statement dated 24 September, JPPM said the notice was dated 22 September 2026. Perikatan Nasional was given a reasonable period to respond.
JPPM stressed that the notice is intended to seek an explanation from Perikatan Nasional over a complaint lodged with the department by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU).
“The notice is not a decision to cancel the registration,” JPPM said.
Following the notice, the department also issued a suspension order under subsection 13(2A) of Act 832. The order suspends all Perikatan Nasional activities from 23 September 2026.
According to JPPM, the suspension is meant to protect the society’s interests from further breaches of its own rules.
JPPM called on all parties to refer to official information issued by the department and to avoid speculation or the spread of unverified information that could confuse the public.
