TEHRAN Oct 22, 2026 — Iranian officials say they are aware of US war plans and are preparing new targets and tactics in response, according to a report circulated by BRICS News on Wednesday.
The claim aligns with recent public statements from senior Iranian figures. Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has said the armed forces have prepared a response “more devastating” than previous confrontations he described as the 12-day and 40-day wars. He added that any new operational plan “will not proceed according to rules they know.”
In comments to Drop Site News, Rezaei stated that Iran retains the capacity to launch missiles and drones at US assets and would expand its targets if fighting resumes, potentially including undersea cables, data centers, and artificial intelligence facilities. He also warned that Gulf states should not assume their energy infrastructure can support pressure on Iran without risk.
Iranian assessments cited by Drop Site see a high likelihood of large-scale action, possibly before Israel’s elections on October 27, with Israeli strikes potentially preceding any US involvement. The White House has denied plans for US strikes before the midterm elections.
The statements form part of a series of Iranian warnings in recent weeks aimed at deterring any resumption of hostilities that began earlier in 2026. Iranian commanders have also spoken of broader options involving regional infrastructure and previously unused capabilities, while US officials have reportedly prepared contingency strike plans focused on Iranian missile and drone systems.
