KUALA LUMPUR, May 25, 2025 — Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof delivered a compelling address at the ASEAN Women Economic Summit (AWES 2025) Luncheon Power Talk, emphasizing the urgent need for shared prosperity to drive inclusive and sustainable growth across ASEAN.
Speaking under the summit’s theme, “Shared Prosperity: The New Imperative for ASEAN’s Economic Growth,” he highlighted the critical role of women’s economic empowerment, equitable energy transitions, and deeper regional integration in navigating today’s complex global challenges.

In a dynamic session, Fadillah outlined Malaysia’s vision through the Malaysia MADANI framework, which prioritizes sustainability, innovation, compassion, and trust.
“Shared prosperity is not just an ideal; it is a strategic necessity for a resilient and inclusive ASEAN,” he said, addressing issues like geopolitical shifts, rapid digitalisation, and the escalating climate crisis. He stressed the importance of a just energy transition to uplift marginalized communities and the need for economic integration that preserves cultural diversity and national identity.
The session was marked by robust audience engagement, with attendees posing thoughtful questions that underscored a collective commitment to inclusive growth. “I found myself learning as much as I was sharing,” Fadillah noted, praising the diverse perspectives from the floor.
Calling for unified action, he urged governments, industry leaders, and civil society to collaborate in building an ASEAN that is economically vibrant, socially equitable, and future-ready. “Shared prosperity demands shared responsibility,” he concluded, rallying for a future where no one is left behind.
The AWES 2025, held in Kuala Lumpur, continues to serve as a platform for advancing women’s leadership and economic inclusion across the region.
