KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA December 15. 2025 – Commissioner of Police (CP) Dato’ Sri Azmi Abu Kassim, Director of the Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) at Bukit Aman, concludes his outstanding service in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) after nearly 39 years of dedication, with his official retirement at the end of this month.
Known as an authoritative leader with high integrity who always prioritised the interests of the force and the well-being of the community, Dato’ Sri Azmi began his career as a Probationary Inspector on 5 April 1987 at the Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) in Kuala Lumpur.
Throughout his service, Dato’ Sri Azmi held various key positions, including Head of the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Management Department, Deputy Chief Police Officer of Kelantan, Deputy Director of Management in the Human Resource Policy Division as well as Services and Staffing at Bukit Aman. In 2023, his leadership shone when he was appointed Director of Management before transitioning to the role of Director of KDNKA on 16 December 2024, in recognition of his high commitment and excellent service.
In appreciation of his contributions to the Blue Flag, a full ceremonial Retreat Beating ceremony for his retirement was held at the Parade Square, PULAPOL Kuala Lumpur yesterday afternoon, attended by the Inspector-General of Police, Dato’ Sri Hj. Mohd Khalid Hj. Ismail, along with the top leadership of PDRM and members of the force.
The event was made even more special with a special performance featuring elements and assets from the KDNKA department, highlighting the ceremonial atmosphere.
Earlier, the Handover Ceremony for the positions of Director and Chairman of PERKEP for the KDNKA Department took place at the Senior Officers’ Mess, PDRM Bukit Aman. Dato’ Sri Azmi handed over the Director’s position to his successor, CP Dato’ Fisol Salleh, witnessed by the Inspector-General of Police.
In the same ceremony, the position of Chairman of PERKEP for the KDNKA Department was handed over from Datin Sri Sharifah Rodziah Syed Agil to Datin Hajah Norli Ahmad, who will act in the role, witnessed by the National PERKEP Chairman, Datin Sri Datuk (Dr.) Hjh. Munirah Che Rose.
Speaking at the event, Dato’ Sri Hj. Mohd Khalid described Dato’ Sri Azmi as a leader with exemplary personality and calibre, a mentor, source of inspiration, and a key pillar in various national security initiatives.
“The vast experience and wisdom of Dato’ Sri Azmi are valuable assets that will always serve as important references in this service. We hope that even in retirement, Dato’ Sri will continue to provide insights and advice for the advancement of PDRM,” he said.
