PAPAR, SABAH April 26, 2026 — Bataras Sdn Bhd has rolled out a major price reduction campaign across all 58 of its supermarket outlets in Sabah to help ease the cost of living for consumers.
The “Kempen Turun Harga @ Bataras” began on 15 April 2026 and will continue until 30 June 2026. Shoppers at every Pasar Raya Bataras branch — including the one in Papar — can enjoy discounts ranging from 3 per cent to as much as 70 per cent on 9,000 selected essential items.
The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) welcomed the initiative, describing it as a commendable effort by the private sector to support the rakyat amid persistent global supply chain disruptions caused by the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

“Bataras, a local company that has been operating in Sabah since 1998, has demonstrated its commitment to helping reduce the daily expenses of the people,” said Minister, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali in a statement.
He also urged other retailers and industry players to follow Bataras’ example as part of the government’s whole-of-nation approach in tackling the cost of living challenge.
In the same statement, Armizan Ali announced that registration for the Sistem Kawalan Diesel Bersubsidi (SKDS) for land-based goods transportation companies in Sabah, Sarawak and Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan will open on 4 May 2026.
This follows the earlier announcement by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof on 6 April 2026. Eligible companies will be able to purchase subsidised diesel at RM2.15 per litre using the fleet card system.
Full details and guidelines on the SKDS registration process will be issued on 1 May 2026. Transport operators are advised to prepare their company registration documents and ensure all vehicles have valid road tax.
