PETALING JAYA, Malaysia Oct 14, 2025 – A state assemblyman from Selangor has voiced deep sorrow and disbelief over the tragic stabbing death of a female student at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, calling for a full police investigation while pledging assistance to the grieving family.

Jamaliah Jamaluddin, the State Assemblyman for Bandar Utama, issued a heartfelt statement on Tuesday, describing the incident as “shocking and heartbreaking” and emphasizing that no place should be given to violence in schools. The 16-year-old victim was fatally stabbed during an altercation, prompting swift police action and the arrest of a suspect based on ongoing inquiries.
“I am deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic incident involving a school student in the Bandar Utama area,” Jamaliah said. “I have been informed by the school principal and police chief regarding the details of the incident that occurred, namely the arrest of a suspect. For now, we must trust the police findings based on the investigation being conducted.”
She urged all parties to allow authorities the space to carry out their probe without interference, stressing that speculation could hinder the process. “I request that all parties give room to the police and related agencies to conduct the investigation smoothly. I also urge the public to refrain from making statements that are not factual and only confuse the public,” Jamaliah added.
The lawmaker extended her deepest condolences to the victim’s family, hoping they find strength amid the unimaginable loss. “This is an incident that is very heartbreaking and should never happen. My condolences to the family of the victim, may they be given patience and strength. As a community, we must all provide support to the victim’s family who are suffering, and also to the students, teachers, and parents who may also be affected by this incident,” she said.
In a show of solidarity, Jamaliah noted that her office remains ready to offer any necessary aid or counseling during this difficult time. The statement comes on the heels of similar expressions of grief from national leaders, including Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, highlighting growing concerns over school safety in the wake of the attack.
Police have yet to release further details on the motive or the suspect’s identity, but the case has ignited calls for enhanced security measures in educational institutions across Selangor. The incident, which unfolded early Tuesday morning, has left the local community reeling, with counseling services reportedly mobilized at the school.
