LOS ANGELES Oct 4, 2026 – Marvel Studios marked Avengers: Endgame’s return to the top of the worldwide box office with a thank-you message to fans, shared Sunday by the account MCUFilmNews.
The post recirculated a short 2020 studio video that cuts between characters including Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Nebula, and Sam Wilson before landing on the line “Thank you for making Avengers: Endgame the biggest movie of all time.” The timing matches Endgame’s reclamation of the unadjusted global record after its theatrical “Encore” re-release.
The reissue has pushed Endgame’s lifetime total to an estimated $2.925 billion worldwide, just ahead of Avatar’s $2.923 billion, according to reports from Variety, IGN, and TheWrap. Endgame first passed Avatar in July 2019, then lost the lead after Avatar’s later re-releases; the 2026 Encore engagement restored the lead. The re-release has added roughly $126 million globally and includes additional mid- and post-credit material tied to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, which is set for December.
Disney, which owns both Marvel Studios and the former 20th Century Fox library that includes Avatar, now accounts for seven of the ten highest-grossing films of all time on an unadjusted basis. The studio’s official channels echoed the same thank-you sentiment on October 4.
