KUALA LUMPUR, April 27, 2026— Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today that Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun will issue a statement on the ongoing administrative crisis in the state at a later time.
Speaking to reporters, Anwar declined to comment further on the matter, deferring the announcement to the state leadership and coalition partners.
The remarks come as Negeri Sembilan grapples with a major political crisis after all 14 UMNO/Barisan Nasional state assemblymen withdrew their support for Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun today.
Negeri Sembilan UMNO chief Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias announced the decision, citing a loss of confidence in the chief minister’s handling of a sensitive dispute involving the state’s royal institution.
The controversy stems from an attempt by four Undangs (traditional chieftains) to remove the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir — a move that was rejected by the state government.
With the withdrawal of UMNO support, the PH-led government now holds only 17 seats in the 36-member Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly, short of the 19 seats needed for a majority.
Despite the loss of majority, Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun has stated that he will continue performing his duties until the situation is resolved.
The development has sparked concerns over political stability in the state and potential ripple effects on the federal unity government.
Further details are expected once the Menteri Besar and PH release their official statement.
