PUTRAJAYA, Oct 8 2026 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a four-eyed meeting with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing at the Perdana Putra Complex here today.
Anwar welcomed Min Aung Hlaing at the building at 9 am, followed by an official welcoming ceremony.
Min Aung Hlaing is on a two-day official visit that began yesterday. The repatriation of Myanmar nationals in Malaysia is among the key issues to be discussed with the Prime Minister.
After the four-eyed meeting, both leaders proceeded to a delegation meeting.
Cabinet ministers present were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, who was the minister-in-attendance.
Wisma Putra said yesterday the visit would give the Prime Minister an opportunity to sustain his direct engagement with Myanmar, in line with the decision of the 48th ASEAN Summit in May 2026 to continue constructive and principled engagement with the country.
Myanmar is an integral part of ASEAN, and Malaysia, as a fellow member state, will continue to support the bloc’s efforts to promote peace, reconciliation and access to humanitarian assistance, it said.
Malaysia will also work closely with all ASEAN member states to ensure stability and prosperity in the region.
