AKPS Thwarts Fake Transit Scheme, Deports 105 Foreign Nationals

Sepang, May 31, 2025 – The Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) successfully uncovered a deceptive transit tactic used by foreign nationals attempting to enter Malaysia illegally, during an operation last Thursday.

In a recent monitoring exercise, AKPS screened over 400 individuals from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India, identifying 105 who failed to meet entry requirements. These individuals were promptly deported.

The scheme involved claiming transit status in Malaysia en route to a third country. However, joint investigations with airlines revealed that onward flight tickets were canceled immediately after boarding flights to KLIA, a deliberate ploy to mislead immigration officers.

AKPS reiterated its commitment to enhancing surveillance at all entry points, refining verification processes, and conducting thorough screenings for all individuals entering or exiting Malaysia.

The agency emphasized a zero-tolerance policy, promising strict disciplinary and legal action against any negligent or complicit officers.
