Inquest Ordered into Zara Qairina’s Death, AG’s Office Confirms

KOTA KINABALU, SABAH, Malaysia. Aug 17 2025  – The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) has announced that an inquest will be conducted to determine the cause of death of Zara Qairina, following a request made on August 13, 2025. The decision, detailed in a media statement issued today, aims to ascertain whether her death involved criminal elements or other factors.

The move came after the Sabah State Legal Advisor’s Office petitioned the Kota Kinabalu Coroner’s Court to hold the inquest, supported by an application under Section 339(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code (Act 593). The court has scheduled the inquest to begin tomorrow, August 18, 2025.

The AGC emphasized that this case is of significant public interest. The department will seek an expedited process to ensure justice is served, not only for Zara Qairina’s family but also for the broader community.
