KUALA LUMPUR, November 8, 2026 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has accused the opposition of keeping silent when corruption and abuse that affect people’s lives are raised, while being at the forefront of stoking racial sentiment and exploiting religion.
“When corruption and abuse that affect the lives of the people are raised, the opposition chooses to stay silent. But when it comes to inflaming racial sentiment and riding on religion, they are the ones most at the front,” Anwar wrote in a post on X on Sunday morning, accompanied by a video clip.
He said this was a point he had touched on at the MADANI Scholars Forum (Forum Ilmuwan MADANI) recently. The 14th edition of the forum, which Anwar chaired at Bukit Kiara on Friday night, focused on food security.
“When abuses worth billions of ringgit are kept quiet, over time we become used to tolerating wrongdoing, that is, tolerance for evil,” he wrote.
“As long as I carry this trust, I will not compromise with corruption, because the place for those who commit corruption is in prison,” the Prime Minister added.
At the same forum, Anwar also said subsidies were still needed for poor families and questioned how much of the tens of billions of ringgit spent on subsidies had been lost to leakage and corruption.
His post did not name any opposition party or leader.
