SAN FRANCISCO, November 6, 2026 — Google executive Donald Harrison has resigned from the board of SpaceX after more than a decade of service, Reuters reported, citing a SpaceX disclosure.
In a post on X, Reuters said SpaceX disclosed on Friday that Harrison had stepped down from the rockets-to-AI company’s board. SpaceX’s investor-relations release thanked “Don” Harrison for his service and said the departure was not the result of any disagreement with the company on operations, policies or practices.
Harrison is Google’s president of global partnerships and corporate development, according to corporate biographies cited in CNBC and other business coverage. His dual perch straddled Alphabet’s commercial partnerships and SpaceX’s governance during a period when both companies deepened ties to satellite internet, cloud and AI infrastructure.
The resignation was dated effective November 4, 2026, in SpaceX’s notice — one day after US midterm elections — though SpaceX’s statement did not link the timing to politics. Bloomberg Law and other outlets noted the proximity to election day while reporting the company’s “no disagreement” language typical of clean board exits.
SpaceX, controlled by Elon Musk, remains privately held and does not face the same disclosure cadence as a public company, so board changes often surface through voluntary notices or secondary reporting. Harrison’s long tenure made him one of the more prominent outside tech executives on the board.
Neither Google nor SpaceX, in the materials summarised here, announced a named replacement director. Board composition matters as SpaceX balances launch cadence, Starlink expansion and possible future capital-market plans long discussed by analysts.
For Google, Harrison’s departure from the SpaceX board separates his Alphabet role from formal SpaceX governance even if commercial relationships continue. For SpaceX, the exit removes a high-profile bridge to Google’s partnership machine at a time when AI computing demand and satellite connectivity are strategic for both firms.
Reuters’ alert did not allege wrongdoing. The story is a corporate governance change confirmed by SpaceX’s own thanks-and-departure note.
