AMPANG, SELANGOR, November 6, 2026 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia’s stance against corruption must be clear and firm, posting a video clip from his media remarks after Friday prayers in which he stressed that graft remains wrong no matter who commits it or how high their position.
In a post on X (@anwaribrahim) this evening, Anwar wrote: “Pendirian kita mesti jelas dan tegas: rasuah tetap salah, tanpa mengira siapa yang melakukannya atau setinggi mana kedudukannya.” In English: our stance must be clear and firm — corruption remains wrong, regardless of who does it or how high their standing.
He added that the country wants to raise a generation that upholds trust, acts with integrity and has the courage to reject corruption, and that those values must be sown and defended for the nation’s future. The post carried the hashtags #MalaysiaMADANI and #YakinMADANI.
What Anwar said in the video
The accompanying clip, labelled as a prime minister’s media session at Taman Kosas, Ampang, shows Anwar telling reporters that the public must not be given the impression that corruption involving billions of ringgit can simply be overlooked.
“Itu tidak harus memberi gambaran kepada rakyat bahawa kegiatan rasuah yang mencecah bilion ringgit tu boleh dibiarkan begitu rupa,” he said in the video. “Apa yang kita nak didik pada anak-anak kita? Satu prinsip akhlak yang tegas menolak penyalahgunaan kuasa dan rasuah.”
In English: that must not give the people the impression that corruption reaching billions of ringgit can be left as it is. What do we want to teach our children? A firm moral principle that rejects abuse of power and corruption.
On UMNO’s decision and the legal process, he said in the clip: “Soal keputusan UMNO tu, tu hak mereka dan proses undang-undang kita hormat cara prosesnya. Ataupun dari segi keputusan Yang di-Pertuan Agong, itu kita hormat dari segi perlembagaan.” That is, UMNO’s decision is their right; the legal process is respected as a process, and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decision is respected as a matter of constitutional principle. He closed by saying his view had already been expressed.
Background
Earlier today, UMNO confirmed it had paid the RM50 million fine linked to Najib Razak’s SRC International case, and the High Court issued a house-arrest order. The Attorney General’s Chambers later said implementation of that house arrest is temporarily postponed pending clarification of the Conditional Pardon Order, with detention to remain at the existing place of detention. Separately, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said his resignation takes effect when Najib arrives home for house arrest.
At the same Ampang doorstop after Friday prayers, Anwar also told reporters he personally disagreed with UMNO paying the fine, while respecting the party’s right to decide and the constitutional and legal processes, according to reporting by RTM and Free Malaysia Today.
