Parents across Malaysia can now look up official information on more than 10,000 government schools through a single website, after Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo handed over the new SekolahKu portal to the Education Ministry on November 3, 2026.
Announcing the launch in a post shared on X, Gobind described the portal as a strategic collaboration between the Digital Ministry and the Education Ministry, aimed at making it easier for the public to obtain official information about schools run by the Education Ministry.
According to the minister, the portal offers parents seven main features: a centralised school search, information on the density of nearby schools, details of school assistance, guidance on the process of registering a child, centralised information covering 10,000 schools, the school calendar, and current news. In a follow-up post, he said the platform allows parents to obtain official school information through one platform, and he shared the portal’s address, portalsekolah.com.
Speaking at the handover ceremony at Sekolah Kebangsaan Damansara Utama, Gobind said the portal was developed by GovTech Malaysia together with the Education Ministry to provide a more consistent and accessible source of information for parents and the public, The Vibes reported.
He explained that the initiative was also intended to end the duplication of effort that had built up in the education system. Until now, schools had developed their own digital platforms to share information, resulting in multiple systems with different formats and services.
“We want to provide a single platform offering consistent services for all schools nationwide, with information accessible through that platform,” Gobind said at the ceremony, according to The Vibes.
The minister said the portal would also cover rural schools, so that no educational institution would be left out of the country’s digitalisation efforts. He added that the Education Ministry could work with schools to supply the information needed to make the portal comprehensive.
Gobind followed up later on Tuesday evening with a short promotional video for the portal, declaring that “Portal Sekolahku kini telah tiba!” (“The SekolahKu portal has arrived!”), and on Wednesday morning he shared The Vibes’ report of the launch with his followers on X.
In his post on X, Gobind said every technological improvement in the education sector could have a very large impact on the people. He expressed hope that the effort would be another step forward in building a Digital Government that is more responsive and integrated, and that delivers real benefits to Malaysians.
At the same event, Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek said a new curriculum for Year One and Form One pupils would be introduced next year, with an emphasis on the safe and ethical use of digital platforms and artificial intelligence (AI). She said pupils would be taught to build digital skills and to use applications and AI responsibly, rather than relying on the technology simply to provide answers.
“We do not want children merely to depend on AI to get answers, but to learn how to ask better questions,” Fadhlina said, as quoted by The Vibes. She also encouraged parent-teacher associations to apply for school maintenance assistance through the designated online link.
