ENGLAND, October 28, 2026 – Liverpool will host Bournemouth in the EFL Cup quarter-finals, while giant-killers Fleetwood Town will face either Everton or Newcastle United, after the last-eight draw was made on Wednesday night in England.
The Premier League confirmed the line-up on its official X account and website, noting that five Premier League sides had already booked their places in the quarter-finals. The full draw is:
- Fleetwood Town v Everton or Newcastle United
- Manchester City v Bradford City
- Crystal Palace v Sunderland
- Liverpool v Bournemouth
According to the Premier League, the quarter-final ties will be played in the week commencing December 14, 2026. The draw took place shortly after the final whistle of Wednesday’s five fourth-round ties, around 10:30pm GMT (6:30am Malaysia time on Thursday), and was shown live in the UK on Sky Sports and ITV1, according to LiveScore.
How the last eight was decided
Holders Manchester City booked their place by beating Brighton & Hove Albion on penalties, and Liverpool used the same route to get past Chelsea at Anfield, winning a dramatic shootout 6-5 after a 1-1 draw. Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Sunderland also progressed on Wednesday, with Palace and Sunderland now drawn against each other in an all-Premier League tie.
The two lower-league clubs in the draw came through on Tuesday night. League Two side Fleetwood Town produced the shock of the round by knocking out Arsenal on penalties after a 1-1 draw over 90 minutes. Viktor Gyokeres scored the Gunners’ only goal, and his young team-mate Max Dowman was sent off for violent conduct in the 85th minute, the Premier League said. LiveScore described the result as one of the biggest upsets in the competition’s history.
In Tuesday’s other tie, League One’s Bradford City won 2-0 at home to fellow League One side Peterborough United, earning a trip to the holders, Manchester City.
One place still to be filled
The final fourth-round match, Everton against Newcastle United, is set for Thursday, October 29, with a 7:45pm UK kick-off. The winner already knows it will travel to Fleetwood, giving both Premier League clubs a clear route to the semi-finals if they can avoid another upset.
For Liverpool, the home draw against Bournemouth keeps alive their hopes of adding to their record ten League Cup titles. LiveScore noted that the December tie will fall between Liverpool’s Premier League home games against Leeds United on December 12 and Tottenham Hotspur on December 19.

The EFL Cup, known as the Carabao Cup for sponsorship reasons, is open to the 92 clubs of the Premier League and the English Football League. The quarter-final winners will go into the semi-finals, which are played over two legs, before the final at Wembley Stadium.
