SEPANG, October 4, 2026 — Formula 1 turned the spotlight on Mercedes driver George Russell on race day, showcasing a custom fan-made hat that had the Brit looking “even shinier than usual”.
In a post shared via its official X account (@F1), the championship highlighted Russell in the paddock ahead of the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, crediting the distinctive headwear to a fan-made creation.
“George is looking even shinier than usual for race day,” Formula 1 wrote, adding that the look was “all thanks to this custom, fan-made hat!”
The clip, tagged for the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend (#BahrainGP), arrives as teams and drivers at the Sepang International Circuit shift from practice and qualifying into race day.
