CYBERJAYA October 2, 2026 — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen strategic cooperation in enforcement, corruption prevention and integrity empowerment, particularly in addressing increasingly complex challenges in the digital environment.
The MoU exchange ceremony was held at MCMC headquarters in Cyberjaya and involved MCMC Chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din and SPRM Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman.
According to an MCMC media statement issued today, the MoU sets out a more coordinated cross-agency approach through the sharing of expertise in enforcement, investigation, digital technology, information management and corruption prevention. The arrangement also covers best practices relating to governance, integrity and risk management.
Both agencies will expand cooperation in the development of knowledge and skills through advocacy programmes, training, knowledge sharing and capacity building. MCMC said the partnership would also harness technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to help detect, prevent and manage risks of abuse of power and misconduct in a more systematic and effective manner.
Related initiatives under the MoU may be extended to industry players and relevant stakeholders, the statement added, reflecting the growing need for broader collaboration as digital platforms and communications ecosystems become more intertwined with public-sector accountability.
“This effort is expected to enhance the readiness of both agencies in addressing increasingly complex corruption and misconduct risks, while supporting accountability and the effective delivery of public services,” the MCMC statement said.
MCMC said that, in line with its role as a driver of the country’s communications and multimedia ecosystem, it would continue to serve as a facilitator in expanding synergy between agencies. The aim, according to the commission, is to foster a more transparent, ethical and responsible work culture.
The statement said such cooperation would also help strengthen the confidence of the public, industry and investors in public institutions, as well as in Malaysia’s communications and multimedia ecosystem.
By linking enforcement capacity with digital and technological expertise — including shared approaches to investigation and information management — the MoU is intended to equip both MCMC and SPRM to respond more effectively to corruption and misconduct risks that are becoming more sophisticated in the digital age, the commission said.
The statement was issued by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
