KUALA LUMPUR October 2, 2026 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Harimau Malaya on a stylish 6-0 victory over Singapore in the ASEAN FIFA Cup 2026, praising the national team’s fighting spirit even as Malaysia missed out on a place in the final.
In a statement posted on his official X account, Anwar wrote: “Tahniah Harimau Malaya atas kemenangan bergaya 6-0 ke atas Singapura dalam aksi Piala ASEAN FIFA 2026 malam tadi.”
He said that although Harimau Malaya had fallen short of reaching the final, the team’s determination throughout the campaign continued to make the Malaysian people proud and showed that the national side could compete and give its best.
“Walaupun terlepas ke final, semangat juang dan kesungguhan Harimau Malaya sepanjang kempen tetap membanggakan seluruh rakyat Malaysia, sekali gus membuktikan pasukan negara mampu bersaing dan memberikan yang terbaik,” Anwar said.
Looking ahead, the Prime Minister said the struggle was not over, with attention now turning to the third- and fourth-place play-off against Vietnam. He urged the team to keep its momentum, fight until the final whistle and bring home victory for Malaysia.
“Perjuangan belum selesai. Fokus kini kepada penentuan tempat ketiga dan keempat menentang Vietnam. Kekalkan momentum, berjuang hingga wisel terakhir dan bawa pulang kemenangan untuk Malaysia!” he added.
