PETALING JAYA, 12 Aug 2026 – Platform Selangor (PLATS) has now brought together more than 100,000 registered entrepreneurs, reflecting the Selangor state government’s continued commitment to strengthening an inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem. The achievement was celebrated at the Platform Selangor Awards Night 2026 (MAPS 2026), held at Sunway Resort Hotel tonight.
The event, which brought together about 1,000 guests comprising government leaders, state agencies, local authorities, industry strategic partners and the entrepreneurial community, was organised by Yayasan MBI to honour entrepreneurs who have demonstrated outstanding performance in developing and expanding their businesses.
MAPS 2026 was organised through a strategic collaboration between the Selangor State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN), Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) (MBI Selangor) and local authorities to strengthen the state’s entrepreneurial development agenda.
The ceremony was officiated by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who also presented awards to recipients as a symbol of the state government’s appreciation for the contributions of PLATS entrepreneurs in driving the state’s economy, creating employment opportunities and improving the people’s wellbeing.
In his speech, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said efforts to empower entrepreneurs would remain among the state government’s priorities to ensure they could grow in tandem with the changing digital economic landscape.
“Micro-entrepreneurs are among the key drivers of Selangor’s economic growth. The state government will continue to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem through a comprehensive approach encompassing digitalisation, access to financing, capacity building and strategic networks, so that more local entrepreneurs can grow sustainably and remain competitive at the national and international levels,” he said.
As of July 2026, PLATS has continued to empower entrepreneurs through various initiatives covering digitalisation, financing, market access and capacity building. A total of 571 entrepreneurs have participated in the U-PLATS Digital Programme 2026, while 200 entrepreneurs took part in the U-PLATS Digital Bootcamp to enhance their businesses’ digital capabilities.
In addition, 34 entrepreneurs participated in the U-PLATS Halal Programme to receive guidance towards halal certification, while 228 entrepreneurs benefited from PLATS Biaya. To expand market access for local entrepreneurs, a total of 2,852 entrepreneurs were also given business opportunities through various programmes and events organised by the state government.
According to MBI Selangor Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ts. Saipolyazan M Yusop, MAPS was not merely about recognising the achievements of entrepreneurs, but also served as a symbol of appreciation for those who have demonstrated perseverance, resilience and an innovative spirit in developing the people’s economy.
“As the strategic investment agency of the Selangor state government, MBI Selangor, through Yayasan MBI, is committed to further expanding the impact of socioeconomic development through various inclusive entrepreneurship programmes and initiatives. With the support of our strategic partners, we will continue to empower local entrepreneurs to become more resilient, innovative and capable of competing in an increasingly dynamic economic landscape.
“I hope this recognition will serve as a catalyst for more entrepreneurs to take their businesses further, create employment opportunities and contribute to Selangor’s economic prosperity,” he said.
A total of 23 awards were presented at MAPS 2026 across nine categories celebrating entrepreneurial excellence in various fields, including innovation, digitalisation, community development, women and youth leadership, as well as the use of technology in business.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Selangor State Micro-Entrepreneur Grand Award to Puan Norminah Binti Syafrial, founder of Minah Satay, who took home a trophy and prizes worth a total of RM20,000, comprising RM5,000 in cash and RM15,000 under the Selangor Madani Entrepreneur Fund.
The recipient was selected based on outstanding achievements in developing her business, her ability to leverage digital technology, and a commitment to creating a positive impact on the local community. Her success demonstrates that with a conducive ecosystem, micro-entrepreneurs can grow into drivers of the local economy while inspiring more entrepreneurs to continue innovating and expanding.
Also presented during the prestigious evening were the Community Micro-Entrepreneur Award, Young Micro-Entrepreneur Award, Technology Revolution Micro-Entrepreneur Award, Women Micro-Entrepreneur Award, Innovation Micro-Entrepreneur Award, U-PLATS Digital Outstanding Entrepreneur Award, U-PLATS Halal Excellence Award and PLATS Biaya Outstanding Entrepreneur Award.
Besides recognising the excellence of the award recipients, MAPS 2026 also highlighted the success stories of local entrepreneurs as an inspiration to the business community and sought to further promote an entrepreneurial culture rooted in innovation, digitalisation and competitiveness.
In line with the state government’s aspiration to empower the people’s economy, PLATS continues to serve as a strategic platform connecting the government, industry and entrepreneurial community in building a progressive, inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem, while expanding growth opportunities, increasing entrepreneurs’ incomes and generating lasting socioeconomic impact for Selangor.
