ISKANDAR PUTERI, July 9, 2026 — Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi returned to Johor on Wednesday night to rally support for the coalition’s candidates in the final hours of campaigning ahead of the 16th Johor state election.
With less than 48 hours left before the campaigning period ends, Zahid joined BN leadership and ground machinery in Iskandar Puteri, where he described the atmosphere as “truly extraordinary.”
“Alhamdulillah, the spirit shown is truly outstanding,” he wrote in a post on X. “Leaders from all BN component parties came down to lend their support… every space was filled with people from various races. This is the spirit of Bangsa Johor that always prioritises unity and togetherness.”
Zahid noted that BN machinery across Iskandar Puteri was working in unison, regardless of component party lines, to assist candidates Datuk Pandak Ahmad in Kota Iskandar (N49) and Nicol @ Ah Kee (also known as Tan Hiang Kee) in Skudai (N48).
“This kind of spirit truly reflects the vision of Bangsa Johor,” he said, expressing hope that voters would continue to give BN the mandate to maintain stability and drive progress in the state.
Zahid pledged to remain on the ground with the machinery until the very last moments of the campaign. “Insya-Allah, I will continue to be with the entire machinery until the final moments of the campaign. Keep working… keep serving and keep reaching out to the people,” he added.
The 16th Johor state election is scheduled for July 11, 2026, with polling stations across all 56 constituencies. Early voting for security personnel and other eligible groups has already begun. BN is contesting every seat in the state.
The post, accompanied by photographs from the gathering in Iskandar Puteri, underscores BN’s emphasis on multi-racial unity and coordinated grassroots efforts in the closing stages of the campaign.
Zahid’s visit comes as both BN and Pakatan Harapan intensify efforts in key urban and mixed constituencies in the Iskandar Malaysia region, including the four-cornered fights in seats like Kota Iskandar and Skudai.
BN has positioned the Johor polls as a key platform to strengthen its position both at the state and national levels.
