The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates as more verified information becomes available.
Media reports indicate the blast occurred in Tak Bai district, near the Sapom three-way intersection in Ban Phrai Wan / Kampung Phrai Wan area, along the road leading into Tak Bai. A bomb hidden in a road culvert reportedly detonated as a Malaysian-registered vehicle (described in some reports as a Proton X50 SUV) passed over it.
Two Malaysian tourists were injured in the explosion and were taken to Narathiwat Hospital for treatment. Their conditions have been described as stable, with no fatalities reported — consistent with the Malaysian government’s preliminary assessment.
The Ministry’s statement aligns with these early reports while emphasising that investigations and verification are ongoing.
Wisma Putra’s advisory comes amid the long-standing security situation in Thailand’s southern border provinces. Malaysians planning travel to the area are encouraged to stay updated through official channels.
The ministry will issue further statements as the situation develops.
