KUALA LUMPUR June 13, 2026 – National DAPSY Chief Woo Kah Leong has rejected the criticism from UMNO President Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and firmly stated that DAPSY will not behave like the youth wings of MCA or MIC, which he described as merely following UMNO’s orders.
In a statement titled “DAPSY Is Not Like MCA Youth Who Only Nod and Agree”, Woo said Zahid has no moral standing to lecture others on respecting political allies in the Unity Government.
“Zahid truly has no moral position to speak about respecting political cooperation partners, given the repeated actions by several UMNO leaders that have violated the spirit of the Unity Government,” he said.
Woo stressed that DAPSY will continue to speak openly in the interest of the people, unlike Pemuda MCA and Pemuda MIC, whom he likened to “cattle with rings through their noses” that blindly follow UMNO’s instructions.
He also questioned Zahid’s decision to allow UMNO Johor to act independently, as well as Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi’s refusal to “sit at the same table with DAP”.
“Is this how UMNO respects its partners in the Unity Government? UMNO actually has no moral ground to criticise others,” Woo asserted.
Woo further urged Zahid to explain the actions of UMNO’s Deputy President, who was involved in attempts to form a backdoor government in Negeri Sembilan together with BN and PN assemblymen. He cited the leaked confidential letter from Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as evidence.
“Instead of criticising DAPSY, it would be better for Zahid to control his deputy who is poking holes in the roof and the UMNO Youth Chief who continues to act like political thugs. Do not divert attention from the efforts to establish a backdoor government that betrays the people’s mandate,” he said.
He also challenged Zahid to prove his commitment to the Unity Government by refusing to sign nomination letters for individuals who wish to act solo, reject negotiations, or insult coalition partners.
Woo posed several direct questions to Zahid:
- If BN fails to secure a majority in the Johor State Election (PRN Johor), will UMNO cooperate with PH or choose to return to PAS and PN?
- Does Zahid agree with his own party’s Youth Chief who wants political cooperation with PAS?
“The people can see UMNO’s game — wanting to continue enjoying positions in the Unity Government while at the same time leaving the door open for cooperation with PAS after the elections. If you truly want to align with PAS, state it honestly and stop playing with the intelligence of voters,” he said.
Woo’s statement was issued in response to Zahid Hamidi’s recent remark using the analogy: “let what is in the heart be a tiger, but what comes out is only a goat” directed at coalition partners.
As of now, UMNO has not issued any official response to Woo Kah Leong’s strongly-worded statement.
