KUALA LUMPUR, May 5, 2026 – The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) has thrown its full weight behind Dato’ Seri Aminuddin Harun as the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan and rejected any immediate change in leadership following the latest developments in the state’s political crisis.
In a media statement issued today by DAP Secretary-General Loke Siew Fook, the party said the CEC held its monthly meeting last night (May 4) at the DAP headquarters in Kuala Lumpur to discuss the ongoing political situation in Negeri Sembilan.
The party outlined five key positions:
- DAP continues to fully respect and uphold the institution of the Constitutional Monarchy. Any matters involving the Raja and Adat Pepatih must be resolved with the highest respect and in full accordance with the Federal Constitution and the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution.
- DAP expresses its appreciation to His Royal Highness the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, for his decree that the state government should continue to function as normal under the leadership of YAB Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Aminuddin Harun.
- DAP will continue to fully support and stand behind YAB Dato’ Seri Aminuddin Harun as the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan.
- DAP will not agree to any proposal to replace the Menteri Besar at this time, especially after the failed attempt to topple the current Unity Government.
- The party has directed all its machinery to prepare for the possibility of snap state elections in Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor should the respective State Legislative Assemblies be dissolved in the near future.
The statement comes amid heightened political tension in Negeri Sembilan following recent manoeuvres that attempted to bring down the state government.
