NEW YORK April 27, 2026 – Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani, in partnership with Governor Kathy Hochul and the FIFA World Cup 2026 NYNJ Host Committee, today unveiled a citywide slate of completely free Official NYNJ Fan Events for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, bringing the tournament’s excitement directly to neighborhoods in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island.
The announcement ensures that every New Yorker — regardless of income — can enjoy live match viewings on giant screens, cultural programming, interactive soccer experiences, local food vendors, and community celebrations without paying a dime.

“The World Cup is coming to our backyard, and we’re making sure every New Yorker can be a part of it,” Mayor Mamdani posted on X (formerly Twitter). “This summer, FIFA fan events will be free in all five boroughs.”
In an official statement, the mayor added: “When I think back on my first World Cup, some of my most meaningful memories weren’t in the stadium, they were in the fan zones, surrounded by thousands of people brought together by a pure love of the game. That’s what we’re building here: a World Cup that belongs to New Yorkers. By bringing these free fan events to every borough, we’re making sure everyone can be part of that joy.”
Governor Hochul echoed the sentiment, calling the World Cup “a once-in-a-generation opportunity” that every New Yorker deserves to experience.
The free events are expected to feature one major fan zone or village per borough, with specific locations and dates to be detailed on the official NYNJ Host Committee website. Early reports indicate highlights will include programming at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens and other prominent public spaces.
The initiative comes as match tickets for the actual games at MetLife Stadium and other venues remain expensive, positioning the fan events as the most accessible way for working families, immigrants, and soccer enthusiasts across the city to celebrate the global tournament.
Full schedule and ticket reservation information (if required for high-demand days) will be available soon at nynjfwc26.com.
This marks one of the largest free public programming efforts tied to the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June to July 2026.
Life News Agency will update this story with the complete event calendar as it becomes available.
