PENANG April 24, 2026 – Democratic Action Party (DAP) leaders are stepping up efforts to strengthen party unity and connect directly with the public, as highlighted in a viral social media post that praises the party’s proactive approach in preparation for Malaysia’s 16th General Election (GE16).
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @AmenoWorld on Friday, DAP leaders were commended for “competing” to issue strong statements aimed at bolstering the party, reinforcing unity, and truly understanding the voices of the rakyat (people). The post contrasted this disciplined focus with internal conflicts in other parties, noting that infighting achieves little unless the goal is to fracture the coalition.
“Look at the leaders from DAP. They are racing to make statements to strengthen the party, solidify unity, work and explain the people’s voices. This is the right spirit of working so we can win GE16. Fighting gets nowhere. Unless the aim is to split,” the post read in Malay, accompanied by an 80-second video clip.
The video, which appears to be a compilation from a recent DAP event in Penang, features several prominent leaders addressing party members and the public. DAP National Chairman Steven Sim Chee Keong is shown speaking energetically, urging all DAP members to “turun padang” (go to the ground) and listen directly to the concerns of the people.
Also featured in the clips are Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming, who reinforce messages of policy explanation and grassroots engagement. The event, held under the “60 MALAYSIA” theme, drew a large crowd at what looks like a dinner gathering, underscoring the party’s push for renewed public connection.
The post has sparked positive reactions online, with users highlighting DAP’s lack of internal scandals compared to rival parties and praising its focus on real work over political drama.
With GE16 on the horizon, political observers note that DAP’s emphasis on unity and ground-level outreach could play a key role in maintaining its strong performance in urban and mixed constituencies. The party, a key component of the Pakatan Harapan coalition, has been actively repositioning itself as a stable and people-centric force.
Life News Agency will continue to monitor developments within DAP and other political parties as the election temperature rises.
