ISLAMABAD April 19, 2026 (Life News Agency) — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday evening held a telephonic conversation with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, focusing on the evolving regional situation amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to stabilize tensions in the Middle East.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Sharif described the discussion as “warm and constructive.” He expressed appreciation for Iran’s continued engagement in peace initiatives, including the recent high-level Iranian delegation that visited Islamabad for historic talks and the discussions held by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Tehran.
The Prime Minister also briefed President Pezeshkian on his recent engagements with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Türkiye, underscoring Pakistan’s broad regional outreach.
“I assured him that, with the support of friends and partners, Pakistan remains fully committed to its role as an honest and sincere facilitator of lasting peace and regional stability,” PM Sharif stated.
The call comes as Pakistan continues to play a proactive mediating role between key stakeholders, including efforts to support a fragile ceasefire following earlier US-Iran tensions. Islamabad has hosted multiple rounds of talks this month, positioning itself as a neutral bridge-builder in the region.
Pakistani officials view these diplomatic engagements as vital to de-escalation, dialogue, and long-term stability across the Middle East. Further updates on the outcome of the conversation are awaited as regional diplomacy remains dynamic.
