KUALA TERENGGANU, April 13, 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim was deeply moved by a sincere act of kindness from two young siblings moments before he flew back to Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
In a post on X, Anwar shared that he stopped to greet little Uwais Al Qorni and his elder sister Aesha Khadeeja at the gate of Sultan Mahmud Airport in Kuala Terengganu.
“Before departing back to Kuala Lumpur yesterday, I managed to interact with little Uwais Al Qorni and his sister Aesha Khadeeja at the Sultan Mahmud Airport fence,” he wrote.
He described how the children sincerely offered him duit raya (traditional Hari Raya cash gifts), calling the gesture “a sign of love that humbles the soul.”
Anwar said the moment filled him with tenderness and affection. He saw it as a powerful symbol of unity among Malaysians of all ages, especially as the nation navigates current challenges.
“Seeing these faces brings forth feelings of tenderness and love. Our responsibility is to ensure every Malaysian child is raised with affection, proper upbringing, and fair opportunities,” he added.
He ended the post with a prayer for the children: “May Uwais and Aesha grow into a generation that is knowledgeable, virtuous, and brings goodness to their family and the nation.”
The accompanying video and photos show Anwar, dressed in traditional light-blue attire and a black songkok, smiling warmly as he accepts the gifts through the airport fence while the excited children and onlookers look on. The video later shows him on the plane gently opening the envelopes and examining the notes inside.
The heartfelt encounter has drawn positive reactions online, with many praising the Prime Minister’s close connection with ordinary citizens — especially the younger generation — during the festive Hari Raya Aidilfitri period.
