WASHINGTON, D.C. April 11, 2026 – President Donald Trump has asserted that the United States has already secured victory over Iran, declaring that America “wins regardless” of whether ongoing peace negotiations in Islamabad produce a final deal.
In video remarks shared Saturday by the official White House Rapid Response account (@RapidResponse47), Trump stated: “We’re in very deep negotiations with Iran. We win regardless. We’ve defeated them militarily… Whether we make a deal or not, it makes no difference to me — and the reason is because we’ve won, whether you listen to the Fake News or not.”
Trump elaborated on the military dimension, noting the destruction of Iran’s naval assets. “Their Navy has got 158 ships… There are 28 mine droppers. All have sunk,” he said, adding that U.S. forces are now sweeping the Strait of Hormuz. He further claimed that Iran’s air force, anti-aircraft systems, radar, and key leaders had been eliminated.
The comments come as U.S. and Iranian delegations engage in direct, high-level talks in the Pakistani capital — the first face-to-face negotiations between the two nations in decades. Vice President JD Vance is leading the American side. Trump also referenced the marathon sessions earlier in the day, saying: “They’ve been meeting for many hours… We’ll see what happens. Regardless, we win… Maybe they make a deal; maybe they don’t. It doesn’t matter. From the standpoint of America, we win.”
The negotiations follow a recent six-week conflict involving U.S. and Israeli forces against Iran that ended in a fragile two-week ceasefire. Key issues on the table include secure access to the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s nuclear program, sanctions relief, and broader regional security guarantees. Partial reopening of the vital oil-shipping waterway has already begun under the ceasefire.
Trump’s remarks project confidence that prior U.S. military actions have left Washington in a position of strength, allowing it to negotiate — or walk away — without compromise.
The White House has not yet released details on the progress of the Islamabad talks, which are being mediated by Pakistan. No immediate comment was available from Iranian officials.
This latest statement underscores the Trump administration’s “America First” approach to foreign policy, framing the outcome as a clear win for the United States irrespective of diplomatic results.
