KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA April 2, 2026 — The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) extends its highest appreciation to all traders and relevant parties for their strong cooperation in successfully implementing the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026.
The 15-day scheme, which took effect from 14 to 28 March 2026, successfully achieved its main objective of helping to ease the cost of living for the people throughout the festive season. This is in line with the Government’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding societal well-being, especially during the alternating celebrations of Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
In a media statement today, KPDN said it had intensified its monitoring efforts by carrying out a total of 13,194 inspections nationwide — a significant increase compared to 7,258 inspections in 2025. Enforcement officers were deployed at the producer, wholesaler and retailer levels to ensure traders remained fully compliant with the scheme.
As a result of the monitoring, 896 enforcement actions were taken, with total compound fines amounting to RM99,800.00. The value of seized goods recorded was RM32,015.70. Of these, 892 cases involved the failure to display pink price tags, two cases involved the absence of price tags, and two cases involved selling above the maximum price.
“Although there was an increase in enforcement actions, the majority of traders nationwide continued to demonstrate a high level of cooperation and complied with the maximum prices for the 27 types of controlled goods that were gazetted,” the statement said.
KPDN also expressed appreciation for the commitment shown by the industry and traders, who were the main contributors to the success of the scheme.
According to the statement, despite cost pressures arising from the war in the Middle East — which affected global oil prices, disrupted international trade routes, and increased logistics and food import costs — the implementation of SHMMP enabled the public to continue purchasing essential goods at reasonable prices with readily available supply.
Overall, the SHMMP for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 ran smoothly thanks to the Ministry’s rigorous monitoring and positive feedback from the public. KPDN will continue to closely monitor the supply and prices of essential goods to ensure consumers are not exploited with unreasonable pricing.
