PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA April 2, 2026– Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced the implementation of the Work From Home (WFH) policy for the public sector, statutory bodies, and government-linked companies (GLCs), effective April 15, 2026.
In a 36-second video posted on his official X account last night, Anwar stated that the policy was decided during today’s Cabinet meeting as an immediate and high-impact measure to reduce fuel consumption and strengthen the sustainability of the country’s energy supply.
“The objective is to reduce fuel usage and ensure energy supply efficiency. Further details will be announced later,” he said in the recording, which showed him speaking in front of the Malaysian flag and the government emblem.
Anwar emphasised that the details of the implementation will be communicated by the Public Service Department (JPA) in the near future.
This move comes in response to the increasingly tense global energy situation due to the conflict in the Middle East, which has also affected global oil prices and energy supplies.
He also urged the private sector to consider implementing the same WFH policy to support the nation’s energy sustainability efforts.
The announcement aligns with the MADANI government’s commitment to addressing economic and environmental challenges in a holistic manner.
