CYBERJAYA March 9, 2026 – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has hailed its “Kempen Internet Selamat@Bazar Ramadan” program as a resounding success, with enthusiastic participation from families, youth, and traders across 19 Ramadan bazaar locations nationwide. The initiative, aimed at promoting safe internet practices, highlighted the growing public awareness of digital security amid increased online activities during the holy month.
Visitors actively engaged at campaign booths, seeking information on cybersecurity, attending educational sessions, and collecting informational materials. This positive reception underscores the importance of digital safety, especially with the surge in online shopping and financial transactions during Ramadan. The campaign aligns with MCMC’s goal of empowering Malaysians with knowledge for secure daily internet use.
Nearly 10,000 Ramadan Kits—containing campaign leaflets, a pack of dates, a bottle of mineral water, and badge buttons—were distributed to attendees. Key highlights included interactive internet safety sessions, demonstrations on parental controls, awareness on online scams, social media misuse, and cybercrime prevention measures. Additionally, close to 1,000 participants registered as “Wira Internet Selamat” (Safe Internet Heroes).
The program’s implementation was supported by MCMC staff nationwide, in collaboration with personnel from the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI). It was further elevated by high-profile attendances, including Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil at IWK Ecopark in Pantai Dalam, Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching at Bazar Ramadan Temenggong in Kulai, Johor, and Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin, the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, who received a briefing on the campaign during the “Santuni Bazar Ramadan” event at Shah Alam Stadium in Section 13. Several other state government leaders also joined at various bazaars.
MCMC remains committed to fostering a secure, trustworthy, and resilient digital environment in Malaysia, in line with the government’s aspirations for a sustainable communications and multimedia ecosystem.
This initiative reflects a broader effort to integrate digital literacy into everyday life, ensuring Malaysians navigate the online world safely and responsibly. For more details, visit www.mcmc.gov.my.
