KULIM, KEDAH, MALAYSIA March 7, 2026 – Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, Minister of Home Affairs, personally participated in the Singgah Sahur RELA Programme organised by the Malaysia Volunteers Department (RELA) as a gesture of appreciation to volunteer members who are on duty throughout the month of Ramadan.
The programme aims to show care and gratitude to RELA members who perform security and community assistance duties, especially during the pre-dawn sahur period which requires strong physical and mental endurance.
The Minister was welcomed upon arrival by Datuk KPjR Rosli Yaakub, Director General of the Malaysia Volunteers Department (RELA), together with Dato’ Hj. Abdul Halim bin Hj. Abdul Rahman, Deputy Secretary General (Security) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), as well as senior ministry officers and RELA personnel.
The programme began at the Sungai Ular Mukim Headman’s Office in Kulim with a friendly get-together session involving RELA members and the local community. The Home Minister also provided sahur meals as a token of appreciation to those present.
Saifuddin then joined the RELA Singgah Sahur convoy, which involved more than 30 motorcycles. The convoy visited several duty locations of RELA members around Kulim, including:
– Sekolah Rendah Islam Nurul Hidayah
– Road Transport Department (JPJ)
– National Registration Department (JPN)
– Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM)
At each location, sahur food packets were distributed to on-duty RELA members. Meals were also given to 20 students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) Kulim campus as a gesture of concern for the younger generation.
The programme continued with a collective sahur session together with RELA members and guests at the Kulim District RELA Office, where the Minister expressed appreciation for their ongoing commitment to safeguarding community safety throughout Ramadan.
As the final activity, the Home Minister and attendees performed the congregational Subuh (dawn) prayer at Masjid Al-Muthmainnah, Kulim. He then handed over food basket contributions to the asnaf (eligible recipients) through the mosque’s qariah representative.
The organisation of the Singgah Sahur RELA Programme serves not only as a platform to honour the sacrifices of RELA members, but also strengthens the close relationship between the leadership of the Ministry of Home Affairs, RELA personnel, and the local community. Such initiatives are in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, which emphasises the values of togetherness, mutual respect, and compassion in building a caring and harmonious society.
