DOHA, QATAR March 2, 2026 – Residents of Qatar’s capital were jolted awake early Monday morning by approximately half a dozen loud explosions, local media reported.
Doha News posted on X: “About half a dozen loud explosions were heard in #Doha early Monday morning as Iranian #missile and drone attacks continue.” The update included video footage capturing the successive blasts reverberating across the city.
People watch from a balcony as explosions and interceptions light up the sky over Doha.
The incidents are part of Iran’s ongoing retaliation against U.S. and Israeli military actions in the region, which escalated following the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Qatar, which hosts the massive U.S.-operated Al Udeid Air Base, has been repeatedly targeted.
Qatari air defense systems, supported by coalition forces, are believed to have intercepted most incoming projectiles, with the explosions resulting from successful interceptions or falling debris. Plumes of black smoke were seen rising in southern parts of the city.
This marks the second consecutive day of such reports in Doha. On Saturday, Qatar said it intercepted 65 ballistic missiles and 12 drones, with 16 people injured by shrapnel. Similar explosions were reported Monday morning in Dubai (UAE) and Manama (Bahrain).
No official confirmation of casualties or major damage from today’s blasts has been issued yet, but authorities have urged residents to stay indoors and follow emergency alerts. Hamad International Airport has experienced disruptions, with flights delayed or diverted.
Regional media outlets including Al Jazeera, Reuters, and CNN confirm the attacks are part of a wider Iranian barrage on U.S. assets across the Gulf, cracking the long-held image of the region as a stable haven.
Qatar has strongly condemned the strikes as a violation of its sovereignty and said it reserves the right to respond under international law.
The situation remains fluid and highly tense. Life News Agency is monitoring developments closely and will provide updates as more information emerges from official sources.
