NEW DELHI March 2, 2026 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the Iranian missile and drone strikes on the United Arab Emirates and expressed India’s full solidarity with the Gulf nation amid escalating regional tensions.
In a telephone conversation with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sunday, PM Modi condoled the loss of innocent lives and thanked the UAE leadership for ensuring the safety of the large Indian expatriate community in the country.
Modi posted the details on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“Spoke with President of the UAE, my brother Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE and condoled the loss of lives in these attacks. India stands in solidarity with the UAE in these difficult times. Thanked him for taking care of the Indian community living in the UAE. We support de-escalation, regional peace, security and stability.”
The remarks come as Iran carried out retaliatory strikes across the Gulf, including on UAE targets in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, following reported US-Israeli military actions against Iran that resulted in the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Reports indicate the attacks caused civilian casualties — including at least one Indian national injured — and damage to key infrastructure such as airports and ports.
India maintains deep strategic, economic, and people-to-people ties with the UAE, which hosts over 4 million Indian expatriates. The safety and welfare of its diaspora remain a priority for New Delhi.
This is India’s first public reaction to the latest round of violence in West Asia, underscoring its consistent call for restraint, dialogue, and regional stability.
The situation continues to develop, with global leaders monitoring the fast-evolving crisis. Life News Agency will provide further updates as more details emerge.
