KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA February 27, 2026 — His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, is currently undergoing follow-up treatment for musculoskeletal pain involving the muscles and bones in his back and hip area.
In an official statement issued today by Istana Negara, the palace said the King has been advised by medical specialists to rest and refrain from attending any official engagements to allow sufficient space for treatment and recovery.
“Due to His Majesty undergoing follow-up treatment, he was unable to attend the breaking-of-fast ceremony with the Prime Minister, Cabinet members, Heads of Foreign Missions and senior government officials at Istana Negara yesterday,” the statement read.
The inauguration of the Sultan Ibrahim Mosque at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), which was scheduled for last night, has also been postponed to a later date.
The statement added that His Majesty has expressed his intention to resume attending official functions once his health fully recovers.
Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim responded swiftly on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a photo of the King and offering prayers for His Majesty’s well-being.
“Mendoakan semoga KDYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim dikurniakan keafiatan berpanjangan serta terus sentiasa berada dalam lindungan, rahmat dan inayah Allah SWT,” the Prime Minister posted this morning.
The post has drawn widespread messages of support from Malaysians wishing the King a speedy recovery.
This is the latest update on the Agong’s health following successful conservative treatment he underwent abroad last year for a similar condition.
The palace has urged the public to continue praying for His Majesty’s swift and complete recovery.
