LABUAN, SABAH, MALAYSIA February 8, 2026 – Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Hannah Yeoh, today announced the establishment of the Labuan Industry Task Force in response to feedback gathered from local industry players.
The announcement was made in a media statement following her attendance at the Engagement Session with Industry Players of the Federal Territory of Labuan, attended by Datuk Lo Su Fui, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), the Member of Parliament for Labuan, leadership from the Federal Territories Department, Labuan Corporation, heads of government departments and agencies, chambers of commerce, and local industry representatives.
The session provided a platform for industry players to voice their current operational challenges and actual on-ground needs. Existing industry players have ensured that Labuan’s economy continues to function, particularly post the COVID-19 pandemic. The MADANI Government appreciates their resilience and commitment in maintaining operations and employment opportunities in Labuan.
Based on the feedback received, Hannah have decided to establish the Labuan Industry Task Force to examine the key issues faced by local industries. The Task Force will be chaired by:
1. Datuk Lo Su Fui, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories);
2. Co-chaired by Dato’ Mohd Husni bin Mohamad Salleh, Chairman of Labuan Corporation;
3. Rear Admiral Dato’ Danyal Balagopal Abdullah, Chairman of Labuan Ports Authority;
4. Puan Farah Adura binti Hamidi, Deputy Director General (Planning and Development), Federal Territories Department; and
5. Datuk Parang Abai @ Thomas, Deputy Director General (Management and Socio-Economy), Federal Territories Department.
The Task Force will also include representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Immigration Department of Malaysia, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), and Water Supply Department.
The Task Force will work closely with Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Finance, for coordination of related policies. The Task Force is given a period of three (3) months to submit specific solution proposals, particularly regarding inter-agency coordination within the government.
The priority of the MADANI Government is to ensure that existing industry players remain and grow in Labuan. Focus is also given to basic issues such as water and electricity supply to support industrial growth. The MADANI Government will work closely with industry players to ensure Labuan’s development remains sustainable and competitive.
