CYBERJAYA, MALAYSIA January 23, 2026 – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced that the temporary access restriction imposed on the Grok application on the X platform has been lifted effective today, following confirmation that the platform has implemented additional preventive and security measures.
On 21 January 2026, a meeting was held between the Ministry of Communications, MCMC, and representatives of platform X to discuss the Grok application.
The meeting was convened to obtain clarification and commitments from platform X regarding preventive measures and compliance with Malaysian laws. Platform X confirmed that the required security measures had been applied to the Grok application.
Accordingly, after taking into account the explanations and initial confirmations provided, MCMC has withdrawn the temporary access restriction previously imposed on Grok, subject to continued monitoring by the authorities.
MCMC stresses that user safety remains its highest priority. Any failure to comply or any violation of Malaysian laws will be addressed firmly in accordance with the provisions of the applicable legislation.
