PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA January 2, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday held a special meeting with Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Steven Sim Chee Keong, to discuss the ministry’s direction for 2026.
During the meeting, Steven Sim presented several key policy proposals aimed at strengthening support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Among the proposals tabled were improvements in taxation issues, reduction of bureaucracy, and enhanced access to capital for entrepreneurs.
According to Steven Sim in a post on his social media platform, these proposals require cross-ministry cooperation and will be brought for further discussion at the Cabinet Meeting next Monday.
He also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the trust given, while reaffirming the commitment to “elevate Malaysian businesses”.
This move is seen as the MADANI government’s effort to continue empowering the nation’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, particularly in facing global economic challenges in the coming year.
Steven Sim was appointed as Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives in December 2025 following the latest Cabinet reshuffle.
