MALAYSIA, KUALA LUMPUR, 14 June 2025 – In a strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Communications, AirAsia has announced a one-time 50% discount on return flight tickets for Malaysian media practitioners to any of the 57 destinations across ASEAN member countries.
This initiative, revealed in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, aims to support the nation’s active media community.
As of 4 June 2025, a total of 12,428 active media practitioners are registered with the Department of Information Malaysia (JAPEN), with 12,297 being Malaysian citizens holding Media Accreditation Cards.
These individuals, representing platforms including print, broadcast, digital, and online news portals, are eligible for the offer.
Spearheaded by AirAsia Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, the discount applies to bookings made by 31 December 2025, with travel valid from April to September 2026.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil hailed the initiative as a significant step to empower Malaysia’s media industry while strengthening regional connectivity during the ASEAN Chairmanship.
