SABAH, MALAYSIA Nov 28, 2025 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed that Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) are no longer just election slogans, but are being translated into concrete action by the MADANI Unity Government.
Speaking at a Pakatan Harapan rally in Likas last night, after concluding his working visit to Sabah, Anwar said many long-delayed basic issues are now being accelerated.
“Improvements to electricity supply, the construction of road networks, and solving the water problems that burden the people every year – all these are being fast-tracked,” he told thousands of supporters waving PH and Parti Keadilan Rakyat flags.
The Pakatan Harapan chairman also criticised the old practice of raising Sabah’s rights only during election season.
“I repeat firmly: Sabah’s rights under MA63 must be respected, fulfilled and strengthened – not turned into slogans every time the political season arrives,” Anwar said, greeted by thunderous cheers.
Anwar further emphasised the MADANI Government’s efforts to close loopholes and ensure every sen allocated truly reaches the people of Sabah.
“We do not come with empty promises. We are strengthening governance, closing leakages, and ensuring fair and equitable development is enjoyed by the people of Sabah,” he added.
In the same speech, the Prime Minister called for strong, honest and mutually respectful synergy between the Federal Government and the Sabah State Government so that the fruits of development reach the greatest number of people.
He went on to urge Sabahans to rise up, reject divisive politics, and give Pakatan Harapan candidates a chance in the upcoming State Election.
“Give space to Pakatan Harapan candidates to serve together, fight for the people’s rights, and bring Sabah to a higher level that is more progressive, inclusive and dignified,” he said.
The rally at Likas Stadium was also attended by PH Sabah candidates and top leaders from component parties including DAP, Amanah and PKR in the state.
