PDRM Clarifies No Official Travel Restrictions on Fahmi Reza

KUALA LUMPUR, June 8, 2025 – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has addressed public concerns and media reports regarding alleged movement restrictions on activist Mohd. Fahmi Reza bin Mohd. Zarin, commonly known as Fahmi Reza.

In a statement issued today at 11:15 AM, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin bin Husain clarified that no formal restrictions have been imposed on Fahmi Reza. However, his name has been included in a movement monitoring list for internal PDRM records due to an ongoing investigation involving him. The IGP emphasized that this is a standard monitoring procedure and does not constitute a travel ban.

The clarification follows confusion at a border checkpoint on June 7, 2025, where an erroneous instruction to restrict Fahmi Reza’s movement was issued. PDRM is reviewing the incident and will take appropriate measures to refine existing procedures.

PDRM reiterated its commitment to protecting the freedom of movement for all Malaysian citizens, stating that Fahmi Reza is free to travel in and out of the country, subject to regulations set by the Immigration Department and other relevant laws.
