Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan: 3-Year Trauma Episode Ends After Shafie Ngah’s Apology Published

BANGI, MALAYSIA Oct 7, 2025– Bangi Member of Parliament, Syahredzan Johan, today expressed profound gratitude when an apology statement from Shafie Ngah was published in the Sinar Harian newspaper, marking the conclusion of a contentious episode that had affected him for nearly three years.

According to the Consent Judgment reached in court, the publication of this apology statement is the first step in resolving the defamation case brought by Syahredzan against Shafie. He emphasized that his legal action was aimed at defending his reputation, not for personal disputes.

“I am grateful to Allah. Finally, this trauma episode is over,” Syahredzan said in a statement shared on his social media platform. He acknowledged the emotional challenges faced, including accusations involving religious aspects, which left a deep impact even though a “thick-skinned” heart is required in politics.

“Many are disappointed because I agreed to settle the case. They say I should continue fighting. But my purpose was to defend my good name, not to quarrel,” he added. Syahredzan explained that this resolution meets his requirements, with the court record confirming the agreement.

He also highlighted the importance of this issue to the people in the Bangi parliamentary constituency, who can now be assured that their representative is not as accused in social media and other channels. “The people of Bangi Parliament know that their representative is not like what is accused out there,” he said.

Syahredzan revealed that another apology statement in an English-language newspaper will be published tomorrow or the day after, which will fully conclude the dispute according to the terms of the Consent Judgment. For him, the publication in Sinar Harian is the most anticipated, as it reaches the primary audience in his area.

Moving forward, Syahredzan pledged to continue fulfilling his duties as the Bangi Member of Parliament for the remaining years, with the hope “insya-Allah” to serve without interruption. He concluded his statement with a motivational message about resilience in politics, while acknowledging the psychological effects of false accusations.
