Fadillah Yusof Begins Week-Long Official Visit to China

NANNING, China, Sept 17, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof arrived safely at Nanning Wuxu International Airport at 2:02 AM local time on Wednesday, kicking off a seven-day official visit to the People’s Republic of China from September 16 to 23, 2025.

The visit includes attending the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) in Nanning, a prestigious trade and investment platform bringing together ASEAN and Chinese leaders. Malaysia’s participation underscores its role as the ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations Coordinator for 2024–2027, aiming to foster cooperation in strategic investments, regional infrastructure, smart cities, and green technology.

During the visit, Fadillah is scheduled to meet China’s Vice President, His Excellency Han Zheng, Vice Premier, His Excellency Liu Guozhong, and Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People’s Government, His Excellency Wei Tao. Discussions will focus on strategic water management cooperation, including technology exchange, capacity building, and sustainable initiatives.

The itinerary also covers Chongqing and Beijing, with an emphasis on renewable energy, energy storage systems, next-generation nuclear technology, and the Sponge City model for flood mitigation and climate adaptation.

Through Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and Water Transformation Plan 2040 (AIR 2040), the country aims to leverage China’s expertise to enhance national water and energy security. As Malaysia’s largest trading partner, China is expected to drive high-impact investments in clean energy and green technology, boosting Malaysia’s economic competitiveness.

Fadillah emphasized that the visit aligns with the Malaysia MADANI vision, reinforcing Malaysia’s role as a proactive, inclusive, and resilient strategic partner on regional and global stages.
