Flood Disaster Declared in Papar District as Villages Submerged and Roads Cut Off

PAPAR, SABAH, Sept 15, 2025 – The Papar District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) has officially declared a flood disaster for the district, effective 10:00 AM today, Monday, September 15, 2025. The declaration comes as rising floodwaters have inundated multiple villages, severing road connections and leaving several communities isolated.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister and also Papar MP, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, alongside the District Officer, Datuk Juil Nuatim, and relevant agencies, is currently conducting on-the-ground assessments and delivering aid to affected villages cut off by the floods. A Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) has been established at Dewan Masyarakat Papar to accommodate displaced residents.

The JPBD Papar has outlined its top priorities in response to the crisis:

  1. Evacuating residents from homes submerged to unsafe levels to the PPS.
  2. Delivering essential supplies to villages isolated by disrupted road access.
