Beijing, September 2, 2025 – A high-level Malaysia-China Business Dialogue held this afternoon in Beijing drew participation from 120 major Chinese companies and conglomerates, underscoring the deep trust and strong bilateral ties between the two nations.

Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the need to bolster Malaysia-China relations by expanding trade and investment cooperation, unlocking new opportunities in sectors such as semiconductors, rare earths, blue economy, education, and research. He highlighted Malaysia’s stable political environment and clear economic policies, including the National Semiconductor Strategy, the National AI Roadmap, and the energy transition agenda, notably the ASEAN Power Grid.
Under China’s Belt and Road Initiative, the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project was spotlighted as a transformative development for Malaysia’s rural and inland regions. Discussions are underway to potentially extend the ECRL to the Thai border, further enhancing regional connectivity.
China’s investments have opened significant opportunities in Malaysia across agriculture, semiconductors, data centers, AI, and telecommunications. Malaysia is emerging as a regional hub for energy and semiconductors, with numerous international companies, including those from China, establishing operations and regional headquarters in the country.
In his remarks, Anwar also paid tribute to Malaysian businessman Robert Kuok, who stood by China during the 1989 foreign investor pullout, driven by his belief in China’s future and the value of true friendship. “This spirit of confidence and sincerity should guide us in building trust and cooperation,” Anwar said.
The dialogue reaffirmed the shared commitment to deepening Malaysia-China economic collaboration, setting the stage for further growth and mutual prosperity.
