LOS ANGELES May 14, 2026 — A premium $600 Hasbro Ultimate Grogu figure has become the surprise star of the press junket for the upcoming Star Wars film The Mandalorian and Grogu, delighting attendees with its hyper-realistic movements and reactions.
Variety shared video from the event showing the lifelike 14.6-inch-tall animatronic Grogu on display. Complete with its signature beige robe, silver Mandalorian medallion, and brown satchel, the figure responds to touch, sound, and motion thanks to built-in sensors, microphones, and over 250 programmed animations.
In the footage, journalists interact with the collectible by handing it a small turquoise accessory (resembling a macaron or cookie). When the item is taken away, Grogu’s expressive eyes blink, its head tilts, and its face shows “agitation,” complete with vocal reactions and subtle body movements that draw “awws” from the crowd.
The Ultimate Grogu, released by Hasbro ahead of Star Wars Day and the film’s theatrical debut, is designed as a 1:1 replica of the on-set puppets used in The Mandalorian and Grogu. It features four motors, 18 points of articulation, an accelerometer, and multiple touch sensors, allowing it to giggle, toddle, and even simulate using the Force on objects.
Priced at $599.99, the high-end collectible targets serious Star Wars fans, collectors, and cosplayers. It operates on D-cell batteries or USB-C power and includes three play modes: display, explore, and grab-and-go.
The display comes as excitement builds for The Mandalorian and Grogu, scheduled for release in theaters on May 22, 2026. The film marks the big-screen debut of the beloved duo from the hit Disney+ series.
This hands-on showcase at the junket underscores how premium merchandise is increasingly integrated into film promotions, giving media and fans an early taste of the galaxy far, far away. Pre-orders for the Ultimate Grogu are available now via Hasbro Pulse and major retailers.
