Zara’s Tragic Passing Unites Community in Grief and Resolve

KOTA KINABALU, SABAH, Malaysia Aug 13, 2025 – Two weeks ago, Nurul Izzah Anwar, Deputy President of KEADILAN, traveled from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu to meet the mother of Zara, a young girl whose untimely death has touched hearts across Malaysia. At the time, Zara’s mother was not ready to meet, a decision Nurul Izzah respected.

Today, Nurul Izzah was granted the opportunity to personally convey her condolences to Zara’s mother. “No mother can bear the pain of losing a child forever,” Nurul Izzah said, expressing deep empathy for the grieving mother. “She only wanted to see Zara grow up healthy and happy, like any other child.”

Describing Zara as a shared daughter of the nation, Nurul Izzah highlighted her admirable qualities—courteous, virtuous, and steadfast in her faith. Zara’s passing has transcended boundaries, uniting Malaysians in shared sorrow and solidarity.

Nurul Izzah vowed to continue advocating for justice, ensuring those responsible face appropriate punishment and working toward a safer environment for all children. “We will closely monitor developments through updates from Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and the Attorney General’s Department,” she said, emphasizing that every child deserves to grow up free from fear and threats.

Calling for collective responsibility, Nurul Izzah urged the public to remain vigilant and protective to prevent such tragedies from recurring. “Let us continue to pray, strive, and trust that justice and truth will prevail, and that Zara’s soul is placed among the righteous,” she concluded.

The nation remains united in mourning Zara and seeking justice in her memory.
