CYBERJAYA, Malaysia August 19, 2025 – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has successfully identified the individual behind the TikTok account “Dato’ Prof Dr. Tunku Iskandar,” who falsely claimed to be a pathology expert involved in the autopsy of the late Zara Qairina.
The Ministry of Health Malaysia has confirmed that the suspect is not a qualified pathologist.
The individual was located near Kota Damansara late last night, following information obtained from statements of two individuals who participated in a TikTok Live session hosted by the account. The suspect was brought to the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD) for questioning, and their communication devices were seized for further investigation.
MCMC emphasized that spreading false information, particularly on sensitive matters such as deaths, tragedies, or victims of accidents, is a serious offense. Such actions can distress affected families, mislead the public, and interfere with official investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 [Act 588]. The investigation papers will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action. If convicted under Act 588, the offender faces a maximum fine of RM500,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both.
The Royal Malaysia Police are also investigating the case under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code.
MCMC urges the public to verify information before sharing and to report any suspicious content to the authorities.
